HOW IT WORKS: When the battery produces electricity, the electric current that makes the scooter work is created by a stream of tiny particles called electrons. Inside the activated carbon, oxygen from the air and water from the fabric combine with electrons passing along the wire from the motor. This creates particles called hydroxide ions in the water. On top of the magnesium foil the hydroxide ions in the water combine with the magnesium to create magnesium oxide and some electrons which flow through the copper foil, and down the wire to the motor.
